The Spirit of Korean Contemporary Art

The Spirit of Korean Contemporary Art was organized in connection with the publication of art critic Shin Hang-Sup’s third collection of criticism of the same title. Bringing together twelve artists discussed in the book, the exhibition translated a critical text into a physical encounter with contemporary Korean art. The participating artists represent different approaches to painting, material, form, and contemporary expression. The exhibition offered an opportunity to consider how individual practices can collectively reflect broader questions surrounding the character and continuing evolution of Korean contemporary art.
