The Invitation of Korean Contemporary Art
August 31 – October 3, 2024
The Invitation of Korean Contemporary Art brought together ten artists whose practices trace major trajectories in Korean abstraction and experimental art across generations. The exhibition presented works by Kim Tschang-Yeul, Kim Tae-Ho, Park Seo-Bo, Bang Hai Ja, Lee Kun-Yong, Lee Bae, Lee Ufan, Lee Heedon, Chun Kwang Young, and Ha Tae-Im. Their approaches range from meditative repetition and monochrome painting to bodily action, paper-based materiality, charcoal, color, and the physical accumulation of surface. Rather than presenting Korean contemporary art as a single movement, the exhibition emphasized the plurality of methods through which artists have investigated matter, gesture, emptiness, rhythm, and perception.
