Roh Hyeun Woo — Afterglow

Afterglow: What Remains explores the traces of light, atmosphere, memory, and emotion that linger after a moment has passed. Roh Hyeun Woo begins from real landscapes, yet his paintings are not straightforward records of nature. Mist softens the boundary between reality and recollection, light evokes the passage of time, and restrained compositions leave space for viewers to project their own memories onto the scene. Dates, times, and temperatures appearing in the titles function as records of moments the artist actually encountered, preserving not only a place but also its air and sensory atmosphere. The exhibition brings together recent works and introduces new vertical compositions, expanding a practice that had largely developed through horizontal landscapes since 2012 and deepening Roh’s exploration of the inner landscape shaped by time and memory.
