Lee Eun Whang — WITH YOU

WITH YOU explores Lee Eun Whang’s continuing investigation of identity, memory, and the gaze of others. The artist’s recurring image of eyeglasses originates in childhood experience and functions as both a frame through which one looks outward and an object that shapes how one is seen. Blurred and repeated glasses become metaphors for external judgment, alternate selves, and the instability of self-perception. Figures such as a boy and a dog extend this emotional landscape, recalling childhood, companionship, and quiet consolation. Lee also reworks familiar cultural images and iconic figures through appropriation and collage-like recombination, transforming them into personal visual codes rather than straightforward homages. The exhibition brings these elements together as a record of looking inward through relationships, memories, and the shifting perspectives that construct the self.
