Kwon Ki Ja — The Layers of Sensation, Resonance of Color

April 8 – April 30, 2025

Centered on Kwon Ki Ja’s Time accumulation series, The Layers of Sensation, Resonance of Color examines how an invisible concept—time—can be given physical form through paint. Kwon’s process developed from observing paint residue pushed beyond the edge of the canvas during her work. Rather than discarding it, she began collecting, accumulating, cutting, and reconstructing these hardened fragments into new pictorial structures. Material once treated as excess becomes a record of duration. Moving between painting and object, flatness and relief, chance and deliberate construction, the work foregrounds the physical life of paint itself. Layered surfaces, subtle chromatic vibrations, and repeated actions invite close viewing, turning the surface into a landscape where color and material register the passage of time.
