Kim Jaikwan — illusion: A Sensory Gaze (November 6 – November 27, 2025)

illusion: A Sensory Gaze surveys Kim Jaikwan’s long investigation of form, order, structure, and pictorial space. A leading figure in Korean geometric abstraction, Kim has developed a language built from squares, triangles, grids, proportion, and balance, approaching painting through rational structure while continuously testing its limits. His grid-based works of the 1980s and 1990s expanded the logic of the flat surface, while later experiments moved into three-dimensional form, sculpture, and installation. In more recent paintings, geometric rigor becomes increasingly open to rhythm, color, and sensory experience. The exhibition traces this movement between reason and emotion, structure and freedom, showing how Kim’s practice transforms geometric order into a field of perception and visual resonance.
