FROM, Beyond the Sea centers on Jeon Bong Yeol’s sustained contemplation of the sea, horizon, repetition, and personal identity. For the artist, the horizon becomes a threshold into another sense of time and space, prompting reflection on the self within a rapidly changing world. Waves—appearing and disappearing in endless repetition—embody the sea’s living, emotional force, while slender vertical lines crossing the surface suggest a counterpoint of reason, structure, or inner light. Jeon’s restrained palette and finely modulated water create an atmosphere that is both meditative and psychologically charged. Rather than depicting the sea as landscape alone, the exhibition uses it as a space through which emptiness, memory, choice, and the continuing construction of identity can be contemplated.
