Beyond the Realism

Beyond the Realism presented works by members of the Korea Contemporary Figurative Artists Association, bringing together a wide range of approaches within contemporary figurative painting. The exhibition’s title pointed beyond technical realism itself, asking how recognizable images can carry memory, experience, philosophy, hope, and imagined futures. Across hyperrealism, naturalism, realism, and other figurative approaches, the participating artists maintained links to the visible world while transforming it through individual perspective and symbolic meaning. Rather than treating figuration as a single style, the exhibition emphasized its breadth and its capacity to hold personal narratives and reflections on life.
